An opulent Eclectic-style theatre and opera house on Plac Swietego Ducha, part of Krakow's UNESCO-listed historic centre. It stages drama and opera in repertory; even without a ticket the floodlit facade, crowned with a winged genius, is one of the finest sights of the northern Old Town.
Juliusz Slowacki Theatre
Opulent Eclectic theatre opened in 1893, modelled on the Paris Opéra, on Plac Świętego Ducha
A story
Modelled on the Paris Opera and opened in 1893, the theatre was one of the first public buildings in Krakow wired for electric light; its lavish painted curtain by Henryk Siemiradzki is raised only on special occasions.
