Piłsudski Mound

Piłsudski Mound is the largest of Krakow's commemorative mounds, raised in the 1930s to honour Józef Piłsudski and Poland's regained independence. Soil from battlefields where Polish soldiers fought was placed inside the mound, giving it both a memorial and patriotic role.

The mound stands west of the centre and rewards the climb with wide views over Krakow and the surrounding countryside. It pairs well with Kościuszko Mound or a longer walk through the green western edge of the city.
