A broad open square on the western edge of the Old Town, just inside the Planty ring. It is one of the few places in the centre with room to breathe, and hosts Christmas and food markets through the year. The Bunkier Sztuki contemporary gallery and several cafes line its edges.

Open square on the western edge of the Old Town flanked by the Bunkier Sztuki gallery and the Stary Theatre
A story
The square was cleared in the 1800s after a medieval church was demolished; today it fills with seasonal markets and is flanked by two temples of Krakow modernism — the Old Theatre and the Palace of Art, home of the Friends of Fine Arts society.
