This stubby yellow funicular has been hauling passengers up the steep hill from Restauradores to the Bairro Alto since 1885, making it one of the oldest street lifts in the world. The short ride — barely 265 meters — saves you a punishing climb and delivers you to the Miradouro de Sao Pedro de Alcantara, one of Lisbon's best viewpoints. The carriages themselves are covered in street art and graffiti that changes periodically, giving the whole thing a slightly anarchic charm. A single ride costs a couple of euros, or just tap your Viva Viagem card. It runs until late, making it a convenient shortcut to Bairro Alto's nightlife as well.
