The best viewpoint in Bairro Alto, a terraced garden on the edge of the hillside with a long view east across the lower city to the Castelo de São Jorge and the Alfama. A tiled map of the view, installed on a wall, names the key landmarks visible from the terrace — useful for orientation.
The Elevador da Glória funicular deposits you at the bottom of the garden; the café at the upper level has outdoor seating and attracts a local crowd for sunset drinks. It is quieter than the more famous Portas do Sol viewpoint in the Alfama, and the view — looking across to the castle rather than down onto the river — is arguably the more interesting one.
