The oldest cafe in Ponta Delgada and the best place to take the pulse of the city. It occupies a corner of Praça do Município with tall windows overlooking the square. Dark wood panelling, marble-topped tables, and an unbroken run of operation since 1918. Come for a bica and a pastel de nata in the morning, or a glass of Azorean wine in the evening. There is almost always someone reading a newspaper at the counter.
