Frederic and Cecilia Storck Museum

Three generations of the Storck sculptor family in their own house

Address Strada Vasile Alecsandri 16, Bucharest

A small, evocative museum in the house and studio of the Storck family — three generations of important Romanian sculptors. Frederic Storck (1872-1942) was one of the founders of Romanian modern sculpture; his wife Cecilia Cuțescu-Storck was the country's first female academic of painting; and their son Carol continued the family trade.

The house was designed by Cecilia in 1913, with murals she painted herself, and the studio is left as Frederic worked in it — finished bronzes, half-finished plaster casts, sketches pinned to the walls. The collection is small but the atmosphere of an entire creative dynasty in a single house is hard to find anywhere else in the city. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
