Eating Out

Romanian food is hearty, meat-heavy, and underrated. Bucharest has embraced its culinary traditions in recent years, and the Old Centre is full of restaurants serving well-prepared local dishes — ciorba (sour soup), mici (grilled minced meat rolls), sarmale (cabbage rolls), and mamaliga (polenta). The city also has a growing scene of modern restaurants and good Italian food. Eating out is remarkably affordable compared to western European capitals.
