Galați has a real eating scene because of its student population and its riverfront. The Faleza is lined with terraces in summer — a mix of pizza, grilled meat, and Danube fish. For something more serious, head to the streets around Eminescu Park, where a few good Romanian and Italian restaurants have set up over the last decade. Fresh carp, pike and zander from the Danube and Prut should be on every menu worth trying.
