Eating Out

Sibiu's restaurant scene improved markedly after its 2007 European Capital of Culture year, and the old city now has a good range of options. Traditional Romanian cooking — ciorba (sour soup), sarmale (stuffed cabbage rolls), mici (grilled meat rolls) — is well represented, and there are a number of more international options in and around the main squares. The city's Saxon heritage surfaces in some of the older establishments, which still serve German-influenced pork dishes and hearty stews.
