Târgoviște Art Museum

A small, well-curated collection of Romanian painting from the 19th and 20th centuries, in a restored neo-Romanian villa on Calea Domnească just north of the Princely Court. Works by Grigorescu, Tonitza, Petrașcu, and other names familiar to anyone with an interest in modern Romanian art, plus rotating exhibitions.

The building itself is worth the visit — high-ceilinged rooms, original tile stoves, parquet floors. Allow an hour. Closed Mondays.
