A late-Baroque palace dating from 1781, the most architecturally accomplished building in Izola. The façade carries a pair of carved stone heads above the main door, rich rococo window surrounds, and a wrought-iron balcony made by a Venetian smith. The building was commissioned by the Besenghi degli Ughi family, who were among the richest landowners in Istria at the time.
The palace now houses the local music school, which means it can sometimes be visited if there is a concert or open day; otherwise admire the exterior from the small square in front. Worth a five-minute detour as you wander the old town.
