Puerto Marina is the centrepiece of the seafront — a large pleasure marina built in the 1980s in a kind of pastiche Moorish style, with whitewashed buildings on artificial islands linked by little bridges. It has won "best marina in the world" awards more than once, and on a summer evening it has a real festival atmosphere.
By day it is a place to wander, look at boats, and have an ice cream. By night the lower level fills up with bars, restaurants, and discotecas; the upper terraces have quieter cafés and seafood places. It is touristy and unsubtle, but it does what it sets out to do.
