Getting There

Cordoba has no airport but it sits on Spain's main north–south high-speed rail line, which makes it one of the easiest cities in Andalusia to reach.

Train. The fastest option from anywhere. AVE high-speed services run from Madrid Atocha in around 1h 45m, from Seville in 45 minutes, and from Malaga in around an hour. Trains arrive at Cordoba's central station, a 15-minute walk from the old town. Book ahead via Renfe for the best fares.

Plane. The nearest airports are Seville (around 2 hours by train), Malaga (1 hour by AVE), and Madrid (1h 45m by AVE). All three are well connected to the rest of Europe.

Bus. ALSA runs long-distance coaches from Madrid (around 4h 30m, much cheaper than the train) and from cities across Andalusia. The bus station sits next to the train station.

Car. Cordoba is on the A-4 motorway between Madrid and Seville. Useful if you're touring Andalusia, but be warned: most of the old town is a low-emission zone with very restricted access for non-residents. Park outside the walls and walk in.
