The Paseo de Las Canteras runs the full length of the beach, and its terrace bars — terrazas — are where the city lives. This is not the packaged beachfront of a resort; it is a working promenade used by ordinary people at all hours. Coffee in the morning, cold Tropical beer at noon, wine as the sun goes down over the Atlantic.
The bars between Playa Chica at the northern end and the reef rocks midway tend to be quieter; the stretch toward the southern end, near the commercial centre, gets livelier in the evenings. None of them require a reservation and most will serve food alongside drinks. Prices are considerably lower than anywhere in the southern resort towns.
