Batería de Santa Bárbara is a small mid-18th-century coastal battery built to protect Puerto de la Cruz from pirate attacks. Its low stone walls and cannon face the old harbour, making the defensive purpose easy to read from the site.
It is a quick stop rather than a major monument, but it adds useful historical context to a walk around the waterfront and fishing harbour.
