Castillo de San Felipe is a compact coastal fort at the western edge of Puerto de la Cruz, built to defend the harbour after pirate attacks on Tenerife. Its dark volcanic stone and low profile make it more rugged than grand.
Today it works as a quick historical stop between the old town, Playa Jardin, and the seafront walk. The fort is small, but it anchors the town's maritime past in a resort landscape that can otherwise feel very modern.
