Soria punches well above its size for monuments. The old town holds several excellent Romanesque churches and palaces concentrated within a short walk. The best excursion is just outside the city: the ruins of Numantia, the Celtiberian city that held out against Rome for twenty years, sit on a hilltop 7 kilometres to the north.
