The two obvious day trips from Olot are east: to Girona, the medieval cathedral city with its Jewish quarter and Roman walls, and Figueres, home of the Dalí Theatre-Museum. Both are about an hour by car. Closer to home, Santa Pau and the volcanic zone are themselves a day out for anyone not exploring them on foot.
