When to Go

Autumn is the best time in the Garrotxa. From mid-October to early November the Fageda d'en Jordà beech forest turns copper and gold, the air is cool and clear, and the mushroom season is in full swing in the restaurants. The Festes del Tura, Olot's patron-saint festival, fills the town with music and giants in the second week of September.

Spring is mild and green; summer is hotter and the volcanoes can be busy with day-trippers from the coast — start walks early. Winter is cold but rarely freezing on the plateau, and the towns are quiet.
