Olot is the capital of the Garrotxa, a heavily green, volcanic comarca in the Pyrenean foothills of inland Catalonia. The main attractions are split between the city itself — a 19th-century landscape painting school, a couple of churches, and a generous food culture — and the surrounding volcanic landscape, with its forty-plus cones and the unique Fageda d'en Jordà beech forest.
