The Montsacopa is the volcano in the middle of Olot. The town has grown around it, and the cone — about 100 metres above street level — is now an urban park. A spiral path climbs through pines to the rim, from which an easy loop runs round the crater past two small watch-towers and the 18th-century hermitage of Sant Francesc.
The view from the top takes in the whole of the Garrotxa: the rooftops of Olot directly below, the volcanoes of Montolivet and La Garrinada to the south, and on a clear day the high Pyrenees to the north. Sunset is the time to be up there. The walk up takes about twenty minutes from the centre.
