Sabadell History Museum

The Museu d'Història de Sabadell covers the archaeology, history, and ethnology of the city and the Vallès Occidental comarca, with a particular focus on the textile industry that defined Sabadell from the medieval period through the twentieth century. Looms, fabric samples, and photographs document the working conditions and the commercial networks that made the city wealthy.

The archaeological section includes Iberian-period material and Roman-era finds from the surrounding plain. The museum is compact and well-organised, and the combination of industrial history with deep archaeology gives it more depth than its modest size might suggest. Admission is low and the building is in the historic centre near the other main museums.

A story
Sabadell's history museum gives unusual prominence to the archaeology of the Vallès region, where Bronze Age and Iberian settlements have been excavated extensively. The collections include finds from Can Gambús, a prehistoric cemetery that turned out to be one of the largest Bronze Age burial sites discovered in the Iberian Peninsula, with more than 400 graves. The finds from that excavation alone justify the museum.
