Torre Millenium

The Torre Millenium is a contemporary high-rise tower in the western part of Sabadell, visible from much of the city. It houses apartments and offices and does not have a public observation deck or visitor facilities. Its interest is architectural — as the most prominent feature of Sabadell's modern skyline and as evidence of the city's development since the decline of its textile industry.

The surrounding area, known as Can Roqueta, has a mix of modern residential construction and repurposed industrial land. It is not a visitor destination in itself but gives a sense of how the city is developing on the edges of its historic core.

A story
The Torre Millenium was completed around the turn of the millennium as part of Sabadell's effort to assert itself as a modern city rather than simply a suburb of Barcelona. At around 100 metres, it was the tallest building in the Vallès region when built. The tower is primarily residential and commercial, but its presence on the skyline marks the ambition of a city that has always competed with the capital it sits just outside.
