Casa Alegre de Sagrera

Casa Alegre de Sagrera is one of Terrassa's most rewarding modernisme interiors, a former textile-magnate's townhouse turned into a small but excellent museum. The building was designed by Lluís Muncunill in 1911 and the family that lived here filled it with an extraordinary mix of late-19th and early-20th-century decorative arts — silver, ceramics, glass, oriental objects, period furniture and Catalan modernista lighting.

Unlike most modernisme buildings, the interiors at Casa Alegre have survived as a coherent ensemble: walking through is the closest thing in Terrassa to seeing how a wealthy bourgeois textile family actually lived a century ago. Run by the Terrassa Museum group, with combined tickets covering several sites. Closed Mondays; allow about 45 minutes.
