Centre de Documentació i Museu Tèxtil

The Textile Museum is one of the more specialised collections in Catalonia, with over 25,000 pieces tracing the development of fabric, dyeing, weaving and clothing from antiquity to the present. Its strength is the early period: Coptic textiles from late antique Egypt, Byzantine silks, and an exceptional collection of medieval Hispano-Moresque embroidery and Andalusi textiles.

Terrassa was the engine of the Catalan wool industry for two centuries and the museum reflects this with strong industrial-era and contemporary holdings. Temporary exhibitions are usually well-curated and often focus on contemporary fashion or design. The museum building itself is a fine Catalan modernisme structure. Allow about an hour. Closed Mondays; entrance is modest.
