Torre de Sande is a restaurant set inside a fifteenth-century noble tower and palace in the heart of the Ciudad Monumental, which makes it one of the more atmospheric dining rooms in Extremadura. The building — with its thick stone walls, arched ceilings, and interior courtyard — does much of the work; the kitchen focuses on traditional Extremaduran cuisine with a light modern touch.
The menu centres on regional specialities: free-range Ibérico pork, lamb from the dehesa (the traditional oak woodland pasture), partridge, and Torta del Casar cheese. The quality is consistently high and the portions are generous. Prices are reasonable given the setting — a main course runs €18–28.
Book a table in the interior courtyard in warm weather. The upper terrace, overlooking the old town rooftops, is the most coveted spot in the evenings.
