Praia de Areas is the secondary beach east of Sanxenxo, about three kilometres from the centre. It is a quieter alternative to Silgar — smaller, also sheltered, with a calmer crowd that skews toward families with small children. The water is clear and shallow for some distance out, which is part of the appeal.
There is a beach bar, basic facilities, and a small parking area that fills up early in August. In the off-season the surrounding pine wood behind the dunes is a nice place to walk; in summer it doubles as additional shade for those who would rather not roast on the sand. Less photogenic than A Lanzada, less crowded than Silgar, useful when both are full.
