A long-running flamenco tablao and tapas restaurant in Lavapiés, in business since 1979 and considered one of the most authentic flamenco venues in Madrid — a working performance space rather than a tourist circus. The crowd is a mix of Spanish enthusiasts and travellers; the dancers and musicians on the small wooden stage are first-rate.
Two nightly shows (around 10.30 pm Monday-Thursday, with later sets at weekends), about €40 per person for the show plus a drink. Eat first in the front-of-house restaurant — Andalusian tapas, jamón, fried fish — or after the show. Reservations essential. Closed Sundays. A short walk from Antón Martín metro.
