The Naval Museum on Paseo del Prado traces Spain's long relationship with the sea, from the Age of Exploration through the 19th century. The collection includes navigational instruments, ship models, weapons, and the first map to show the Americas — Juan de la Cosa's chart from 1500. The museum is well laid out and rarely crowded, making it a welcome contrast to the nearby Prado and Thyssen. Entry is by voluntary donation. Closed Mondays.
