Museum of Navarra

Housed in a former 16th-century hospital on Cuesta de Santo Domingo, the Museum of Navarra is the region's flagship collection. The building is beautiful in itself — a Renaissance portico connects the hospital to a church from 1540. Inside, the collection spans prehistory to the 20th century.

The highlights include a set of Flemish paintings on copper, twelve canvases depicting scenes from Genesis, ivory chests of extraordinary craftsmanship, and a Goya portrait of the Marquis of San Adrián. The Roman and Iron Age galleries are also strong: floor mosaics excavated from villas around the region, and objects from the settlement that preceded the medieval city.
