Drotten Medieval Museum

Viking-age church foundations visible beneath a glass floor in central Lund

Beneath a glass floor in the centre of Lund lie the excavated remains of one of the city's oldest churches — the original Drotten church, dating from around 1000 AD. The museum at Kattesund 6 preserves three successive churches built on the same site, their foundations and artefacts visible in a subterranean display that gives a rare sense of the Viking-age town that predated the cathedral.
