The Hammetschwand Lift is an outdoor glass lift on the Buergenstock cliffs above Lake Lucerne. It rises about 150 metres to a high lookout, turning the cliff walk into a short burst of old-fashioned engineering drama.
The reason to come is the view: Lake Lucerne below, mountain ridges on every side, and the Felsenweg cliff path leading away from the lift. It is best treated as part of a clear-weather excursion from Lucerne rather than as a quick city sight.
