Allestree Park

Allestree Park is Derby's wildest large park, with woodland, open grassland, a lake, and the shell of Allestree Hall. Its rewilding project is the main reason to come: the place feels less manicured than a normal municipal park and is gradually being managed for richer habitat.

It is best for a quiet walk on the north side of the city. Bring shoes that can cope with muddy paths after rain, and do not expect formal gardens or a polished visitor attraction.
