Latrigg

The grassy hill on the north-eastern edge of town is the easiest of the Keswick fells: a 368 m bump rather than a mountain, with a path up its southern flank from the suburb of Briar Rigg. The view from the summit — Derwentwater fanning out beneath, with Borrowdale curling away to the south — is one of the best in the Lakes for the effort involved.

An hour and a half up and back from town, less if you drive to the gated car park higher up the road. Good for an evening after-dinner walk in long summer light, or as a warm-up day before tackling something bigger.
