Goodwood Estate

The Goodwood Estate, owned by the Dukes of Richmond, sits in the Downs above Chichester. The big draws are the motor racing events — the Festival of Speed in July, the Goodwood Revival in September — and the flat horse racing meeting in late July known as Glorious Goodwood. Outside event weeks, Goodwood House (the family seat) is open on selected days and the estate has good walking through its woods and parkland.

The estate also runs an airfield, a hotel, two golf courses, and an organic farm shop. It is one of the most coherent landed estates in southern England.

A story
The Goodwood Festival of Speed in July fills the front lawn of Goodwood House with the world's most expensive cars — historic Formula 1, Le Mans winners, hypercars — driven up a 1.16-mile hill climb past the house. The same estate hosts the Goodwood Revival in September, a meeting of historic race cars run with strict period dress for everyone in attendance.
