The Novium Museum

The Novium is Chichester's history museum, built directly over the in-situ remains of a Roman bathhouse uncovered in 1974. The bathhouse, with its hypocaust pillars and mosaic fragments, fills the ground floor of a striking modern building by Keith Williams Architects. Upstairs, the galleries cover Chichester from prehistory through the Roman city of Noviomagus to the present.

Entry is free and the museum is small enough to take in over an hour. The Roman remains beneath are the principal draw.
