Guildford's sights are concentrated in the small medieval centre — the castle, the museum, the steep cobbled High Street with its Jacobean Guildhall — plus the modernist hilltop cathedral above the University of Surrey. Add a few unusual minor sights with literary or social-history weight: the rediscovered medieval synagogue under a High Street shop, the Lewis Carroll grave at the Mount Cemetery, and the Guildford Spike workhouse. A long day is enough.
