Colour Experience Museum

Run by the Society of Dyers and Colourists from their headquarters in Bradford's old wool district, the Colour Experience is an unusual little museum entirely devoted to the science and history of colour — fitting, given that Bradford was the engine of the British dyeing industry through the 19th century.

The interactive exhibits cover the chromatic spectrum, how the eye sees colour, the technology of natural and synthetic dyes, optical illusions, and the cultural meaning of colour across societies. Best for older children and adults with a serious interest. Free admission, weekdays only. About 15 minutes' walk from the city centre.
