Queen's Gardens

Long civic park built over the filled-in Queen's Dock, between Hull College and the Maritime Museum

Queen's Dock was filled in during the 1930s and laid out as gardens, then redesigned in the 1950s as a civic square framed by the new Hull College building. The result is an unusual long, narrow park running east-west across the centre of the city, with formal beds, a few sculptures, and the Wilberforce Monument standing as a pillar at the eastern end.

It is the quickest green space to reach from the city centre and a useful resting point between the Old Town and the cultural quarter to the west. The Wilberforce column is a good vantage on the rest of the gardens. The fountains are usually working in summer.
