Hull's drinking culture is rooted in the Old Town, where pubs still outnumber bars by a long way. Ye Olde White Harte, the George on Land of Green Ginger, and the Olde Black Boy on High Street are the historic anchors — all worth a visit for the rooms alone. Around the Marina the bars are newer and aimed at the after-work and pre-club crowds. The Fruit Market has the best clutch of independent bars and coffee places, with Humber Street as its main strip. Princes Avenue in the Avenues district is the second main bar drag, particularly busy on weekend evenings. Hull's beer scene benefits from a few good local breweries; ask for Hull, Atom, or Bone Machine.
