Giants' Graves

A cluster of Neolithic chambered cairns on the open hillside above Whiting Bay, predating the Viking presence on Arran by several thousand years. The name is a local one — these are Bronze Age burial monuments, atmospheric and largely undisturbed, set on the moorland with broad views down to the bay and across to the mainland. The walk up from the village is steep in places but short, and the site rewards a quiet visit. Combine with the Glenashdale Falls path for a longer circular day out.
