Steall Falls

Steall is the second-highest waterfall in Scotland, dropping 120 metres in a single ribbon down the slopes of An Gearanach into the upper Glen Nevis. The setting — broad, flat glacier-floor meadow, ringed by mountains, with the white slash of the falls at one end — is unmistakable, and was used in the Harry Potter films as the location of the Triwizard Tournament dragon arena.

The walk in from the upper Glen Nevis car park takes about an hour each way, climbing through a wooded gorge before opening out into the upper meadow. A three-cable wire bridge — a long single wire to walk on, two more to hold — crosses the river to a small bothy: not recommended for the nervous.
