Chapel Yard Cemetery is a small historic burial ground in central Inverness. Most of the surviving graves are from the 19th century, but the site is older: the lost Chapel of St Mary and part of a medieval monastery once stood here.
The chapel and monastery disappeared after Cromwell's forces reused the stone for fortifications. What remains is a quiet, compact stop for visitors interested in Inverness before the Victorian city, best paired with the Old High Church and a walk along the river.
