Ucheldre Centre

The Ucheldre Centre occupies the former chapel of a Bon Sauveur convent on the edge of the town centre. The Sisters arrived from France in the 1940s and ran a girls' school here until the 1990s; when they left, the community took over the buildings and converted them into one of the most ambitious arts centres in north Wales.

The main exhibition space hosts changing shows of painting, photography, and craft, often with a strong Welsh focus. There is a small cinema running art-house and classic film seasons, a regular programme of concerts, and a cafe in the old refectory. It is the principal cultural draw in the town.
