Silver Sands sits at the southeastern tip of Barbados where the Caribbean and Atlantic winds converge to produce some of the strongest and most consistent trade winds in the region. For most of the year this makes it Barbados's best spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing — the beach hosts international competitions. For swimmers, the conditions can be choppy; the water is cleaner and more exposed than the sheltered coves further west.
The beach is relatively undeveloped. A few casual bars and watersports rental operations operate here, but it remains noticeably quieter than Accra or Dover.
