When to Go

The dry season runs from November through May and is the best time to visit. Seas are calm, diving visibility peaks at 30 metres or more, and the days are reliably sunny. February through April is the driest stretch — bright days, cooling northeast trade winds, and none of the humidity that sets in later in the year. High season runs from December through February, when prices spike and advance booking becomes essential for accommodation.

Late June brings the lobster festival — three days of music, street food, and the cheapest lobster you will find on the island. The June–October rainy season sees shorter afternoon showers rather than all-day rain, and diving is still possible most days, but tropical storms are a real possibility from August through October. Hotel rates are lower and the town is quieter; the tradeoff is some weather uncertainty.
