Victoria Street is the spine of downtown Kamloops — a wide tree-lined boulevard running east–west for several blocks through the centre, lined with restored late-19th and early-20th-century brick storefronts. It is the city's most pleasant urban walking environment, with cafés, brewpubs, independent shops and a number of public art installations.
The Kamloops Farmers' Market takes over part of the street on Saturday mornings from spring to autumn, with stalls of stone fruit (the Thompson is one of the country's best peach- and cherry-growing regions), greens, baked goods, ranch beef and crafts. The Kamloops Art Gallery sits on the same stretch. A late-afternoon walk down Victoria Street with a stop at one of the brewpubs is the easiest way to take the city's pulse.
