Galt Arena Gardens

Galt Arena Gardens opened in 1922, making it one of the oldest continuously operating ice arenas anywhere. The building hasn't changed dramatically: a straightforward brick structure with a standard-sized rink inside, designed purely for hockey and public skating rather than for spectacle. It seats several hundred and still hosts local league games through the winter months.

The arena is a genuine piece of local history rather than a tourist attraction — nobody has turned it into a museum — which makes it more interesting in its own way. If you're visiting during hockey season, a local game here is as authentic an Ontario experience as you'll find.
