East Beach

The town's public beach sits at the south end of Robinson Street, a few minutes' walk from the lighthouse. It is shorter and less wild than the Provincial Park beach across the creek, but more convenient if you are staying in town: pavilion, washrooms, picnic tables, and a small playground are right behind the sand.

The water shelves gently and the beach is patrolled in summer, which makes it the better choice with small children. Sunsets here are particularly good — the beach faces west across the harbour mouth, with the lighthouse on the headland to your right.
